What You Can Expect To Find Here

Well, here I go. I’m relaunching this blog again.

The past few weeks, I’ve asked myself, “Why does speaking to other creatives matter so much to me? I’m not sure I have a solid answer yet, but I know I have an undeniable urge to encourage and champion creative work.

This blog is a lot of current me talking to past me. The things I share here are encouragements that I needed ten years ago. Sometimes, they are encouragements I needed ten minutes ago.

This blog is also just me writing down what I say to my creative friends to encourage them forward in their creative work.

What I’ve gathered from my internal world and from being around so many creatives is that we need three kinds of encouragement.

1. How do we find fulfillment in our work?

Discontentment is a word that comes to mind when I think about most of the people I know who are deeply compelled to do creative work. You don’t have to look very far to see that even the top performers among us are still unsatisfied in their work.

In this blog, I hope to encourage us to consider how we can find greater fulfillment and joy in our creative work. My worldview and perspective on work are heavily shaped by the fact that I am a Christian. In light of that, I believe that creative work (well, all work, really) becomes deeply satisfying when understood in light of who God is and who we are in Him.

2. What are the options and possibilities for our creative work?

Sometimes, even creative types need a bit of encouragement to think outside the box. There is a world of possibilities and options for sharing our creative work and connecting with the people who would love it.

Sometimes, we need a paradigm shift; the way we see the world is limiting us in unnecessary ways. Sometimes, we just need exposure to possibilities we didn’t know existed. Other times, we just need a bit of bravery to lean into the options right in front of us.

I hope this blog will help you discover new possibilities and encourage you to move forward in what you already know.

3. How can we get unstuck in our creative work?

We all get stuck in our creative work from time to time. After all, creative work is work.

In this blog, I want to share the things that are helping me pursue my best work. These could be tools, resources, mindset shifts, systems, habits, and other things that are inspiring me at the moment.

I always need fresh new thoughts and ideas that help spark inspiration and move me toward the next creative breakthrough. So, I’ll pass along what’s working for me right now. Who knows? Maybe it will work for you too?

Fuel for your best creative work

We’re all at different places in our creative journey. And we all have different things we’d like to accomplish with our creative work.

But every creative person I know (me included) could use a little encouragement to keep going.

No matter where you are or where you would like to go with your creative endeavors, I hope this blog will encourage you forward. It would be a joy and an honor to play a small part in fueling your best creative work.
